Justin Bieber recently announced some thrilling news on Instagram: he and his wife, Hailey, are expecting their first child. Hailey has expressed her mixed emotions about becoming a parent. While she is eager to be a mom, she also worries about the potential criticism their child might face.
Since their marriage in 2018, Hailey and Justin have discussed having children. In a 2020 interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Justin explained why Hailey wasn’t ready to have kids right away. He emphasized that he respects her decision on when and how many children they will have.
“It’s her body and whatever she wants to do,” Justin said. “Hailey still has some things she wants to accomplish as a woman.”
He humorously added, “I’m going to have as many as Hailey is willing to push out. I’d love to have myself a little tribe.”
Hailey has spoken about the societal pressure on women to follow a traditional timeline after marriage. She stressed that she has career goals she wants to achieve before starting a family.
“There’s this thing that happens for women when you get married. Everybody always assumes it’s: First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby,” she said. “Well, what about all the things I want to accomplish in my business?”
Hailey has been very open about her decision to delay having children. She mentioned she “definitely” didn’t plan to have kids in 2022, saying, “I think I had it ingrained in my head that I was going to want to have kids right away, and I was going to want to have kids super, super young. Then I turned 25, and I’m like, ‘I’m still super, super young!’”
When Justin and Hailey announced their pregnancy, some people reacted negatively, questioning the authenticity of their relationship.
However, despite their fears and doubts, their friends and most fans have shown strong support, believing they will be wonderful parents.
“You’re literally gonna be the greatest papa ever. So excited about this new chapter,” wrote Harry Hudson on Instagram. “You’re going to be such an incredible mama! Congrats you two!” added Aimee Song.
